About me

I’m John. 👋

I’m a service designer, maker, speaker and father.

I’ve been fortunate enough to have a career that spans across digital advertising, consulting, video gaming and financial services. Along the way I got to:

  • help Bloomberg expand into new verticals
  • launch Morgan Stanley’s first ever retail mobile app
  • design the #1 ranked Robo-Advisor in the marketplace
  • present at multiple industry conferences across the globe
  • scale an internal facilitation academy across a workforce of 13,000 employees 🧑‍🎓
  • localize Design Thinking training into four different languages 🇨🇳🇯🇵🇰🇷🇬🇧
  • create a playbook for running distributed hack-a-thons
  • and even got to design a rap karaoke video game with Def Jam records. 🤘

I also co-founded the first digital startup to deliver online interior design via VR and was featured in the New York Times, Wall St Journal, TechCrunch and on CBS news.

Originally from the USA, I now live in Hong Kong with my lovely wife and two rascal kids.

What I'm currently up to

  • Most recently, I was the Global Head of Innovation Labs for Fidelity International where we prototyped business use-cases for agentic & generative AI, blockchain, Web3, digital humans and other cool emerging technologies. You can read more in our 2024 Future Forecast report.
  • Deepening my expertise in AI and automation and looking for practical ways to apply  human-centered design to technology. 🤷‍♂️ + 🤖
  • Advising early stage start-ups like DataBlocs on product and GTM strategy.
  • Experimenting with rapid product deployment and e-commerce platforms through small side projects, like UXPrompts.ai and RELIC Skills.
  • Co-creating silly AI-generated cartoons with my daughter.
  • Slowly attempting to hike all of Hong Kong’s big four trails. ⛰️
